When I first read Linda Morales Caballero’s LIPSTICK, something powerful resonated with my own story as a Queer person. I immediately knew I wanted to translate the short story—or rather, the enigma—into a theatrical piece that could live and breathe on stage.
The premiere at FUERZAFest 2025 (A.R.T./NYC Theatres) was an unexpected gift. The piece was honored with wonderful reviews and received the Outstanding Achievement in a Short Play Award.
Onstage, I created a jazzy dreamscape of live music and immersive storytelling, where a man ultimately joins the audience in an act of healing and compassion.
Now, with the selection at the FRENZY Festival (El Barrio Artspace, NYC, October 2025), I have the chance to expand LIPSTICK into a longer version, diving deeper into the psyche and language of this fragmented, shape-shifting character.
My goal is to premiere the full-length in 2026 and take audiences on a sensory journey—intimate, striking, and emotionally charged. Above all, I want the stage to become a magical mirror of healing.

Cuando leí LIPSTICK de Linda Morales Caballero, algo poderoso resonó con mi propia historia como persona queer. Supe de inmediato que quería traducir el relato corto —o más bien, el enigma— a un lenguaje teatral que pudiera respirar y cobrar vida en escena.
El estreno en FUERZAFest 2025 (A.R.T./NYC Theatres) fue un regalo inesperado. La pieza recibió reseñas muy elogiosas y ganó el Outstanding Achievement in a Short Play Award.
Sobre el escenario creé un paisaje onírico y musical, donde un hombre termina uniéndose al público como un acto de sanación y compasión.
Ahora, con la selección en el FRENZY Festival (El Barrio Artspace, NYC, octubre 2025), tengo la oportunidad de ampliar LIPSTICK en una versión más extensa, profundizando en la psique y el lenguaje de este personaje fragmentado y cambiante.
Mi objetivo es estrenar la versión completa en 2026 y llevar al público a un viaje sensorial: íntimo, impactante y cargado de emoción. Por encima de todo, quiero que el escenario se convierta en un espejo mágico de humanidad.

Edu Díaz is a multi-awarded theater maker, actor, playwright, and drag performer from the Canary Islands, based in New York City. A Fulbright grant in Performing Arts brought him to the city in 2019, where he has created acclaimed works such as A Drag Is Born—winner of multiple awards for its bold exploration of queer identity and resilience. His work blends magical realism, absurdity, and physical theater, transforming the stage into a visceral space where identity, memory, and survival are reimagined.

Author
Linda Morales Caballero is a writer, journalist, and educator, author of eight poetry collections and El libro de los enigmas (The Book of Enigmas), a short story collection that has inspired an award-winning short film, a play, and monologues performed in New York and Madrid. In 2019, she was honored at the LACUCHE Book Fair. She received the International Latino Book Award in 2020 and was a finalist for the Ernest M. Hemingway Spanish Literature Prize in 2021. In 2022, she produced a multidisciplinary performance in New York honoring Trilce, which earned wide recognition. Her poetry, translated into several languages, is featured in numerous anthologies worldwide.
Linda Morales Caballero es escritora, periodista y profesora, autora de ocho poemarios y de la colección de cuentos El libro de los enigmas, obra que inspiró un cortometraje premiado, una pieza teatral y monólogos presentados en Nueva York y Madrid. En 2019, fue homenajeada en la Feria del Libro LACUCHE. En 2020 ganó el International Latino Book Award y en 2021 fue finalista del Premio de Literatura en Español Ernest Hemingway. En 2022, produjo en Nueva York una obra multidisciplinar en honor a Trilce, que recibió amplio reconocimiento. Su poesía, traducida a varios idiomas, forma parte de numerosas antologías en distintas partes del mundo.

Pianist and Vocal Coach
Angelho Díaz is a Cuban pianist with international recognition, trained in Cuba and Moscow, whose career spans classical and popular music across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Born in Havana’s Cayo Hueso neighborhood, he began studying music at age four under his father, Ángel Díaz, co-creator of the Cuban Filin movement and a cultural icon. Angelho has taught at universities across Latin America, performed worldwide, and earned acclaim for his musical brilliance, spontaneity, and versatility. He currently resides in New York City, where he combines his solo career—focused on Post-Impressionist and Modern repertoire—with his role as musical director of Señor Bolero.
Angelho Díaz es un pianista cubano de reconocimiento internacional, formado en Cuba y Moscú, con una trayectoria que abarca tanto la música clásica como la popular en América, Europa y África. Nacido en el barrio habanero de Cayo Hueso, inició sus estudios musicales a los cuatro años de la mano de su padre, Ángel Díaz, co-creador del movimiento Filin cubano y figura icónica de la cultura de la isla. Angelho ha sido profesor en universidades de América Latina, ha llevado su arte a escenarios de todo el mundo y ha recibido elogios por su virtuosismo, espontaneidad y versatilidad. Actualmente reside en Nueva York, donde combina su carrera solista —centrada en la música postimpresionista y moderna— con la dirección musical del espectáculo Señor Bolero.
